The PTA is the UK's only full-time organisation dedicated to
teaching the correct procedures and practices of the professional
tattoo artist.
The Professional Tattoo Academy (UK) provides various courses that
have been designed to be as interesting and informative as possible.
Students are expected to give their best efforts during drawing and
machine assembly sessions. If they use their course time well, students
are guaranteed to leave the academy with a far greater artistic competence
than when they arrived.
Each day of the course is structured in a similar way to other establishments
of further education: a prompt start time of 10:00 with a lunch break
at 12:30, resuming at 13:30 and finishing at around 17:00.
After successfully completing the Two Week Professional
Course, students will be awarded a certificate and will also qualify
to become members of The Professional Tattoo Academy (UK). This is intended
to help create more of a co-operative tattoo community as opposed to
its current territorial status.
Reunions are scheduled annually for the purpose of graduates
and families to meet, to share their expertise and to exchange ideas.
Associations like this are regarded by the media and some
governmental bodies as being more professional, which helps to promote
tattoo artists in a more positive way to the general public.
Important: in some areas of the UK local legislation
dictates that a certificate of training is required before permission
is granted for opening a new tattoo or body piercing business.
